It’s official, I’m a Getty Images photographer! A number of my photos were selected by Getty Images for sale in their creative stock category.
It’s crazy to think how far I’ve come in this hobby. Ten years ago I received my first DSLR, a Canon Rebel Ti1. I barely knew how to shoot manual, let alone understood post-processing techniques.
Around five years ago, I started working for a photo-editing software company and that’s where my understanding for manual photography and natural editing really blossomed. I joined 500px, mostly to scope out photographers who were using our software, but also maintained my own portfolio.
Recently, 500px shut down their marketplace and are now working directly with Getty Images. This just shows the importance of putting your work out there! I’ve already made a number of sales through Twenty20, but never imagined I’d make it to the big league. :)
This also made me realize how many of my images have not been submitted for licensing. I reached out to their support today to see if Getty will review profiles more than once for newly licensed images. (Will update when I find out.)
It’s quite an honor and has ignited a new spark to bring out my DSLR again; I’ve been using my iPhone way too much lately. I’ll be traveling to the Scottish Highlands this fall, so stay tuned for new shots of one of my favorite photography genres…landscapes!
